Overview

This webinar brings together leading experts Dr Rodrigo Bagur, Dr Angela McInerney, Dr Rolf Kreutz, Dr Sohail Khan, Dr Sophia Khattak, Dr Jonathan Hinton and Dr Peter O’Kane to explore the challenges and solutions in managing calcified coronary artery disease. The session will provide a detailed examination of coronary calcification from pathological and clinical perspectives, including intravascular imaging tools for calcium characterisation and treatment and modification techniques for proper lesion preparation and treatment.

The webinar will showcase manuscripts from our 2025 special focus discussing various calcium modification techniques including rotational, orbital and laser atherectomy, along with innovative combination approaches like RASER and Orbitalshock. Through expert presentations and interactive discussions, attendees will enhance their understanding of optimal strategies for managing calcified coronary lesions to improve procedural success and patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the pathological features, prevalence and predictors of calcified coronary artery disease
  • Recognise how coronary calcification impacts clinical outcomes and interventional procedures
  • Differentiate between various types, morphologies and distribution patterns of coronary cal
  • Compare and contrast different atherectomy techniques including rotational, orbital and laser approaches
  • Evaluate novel combination tools and strategies for calcium modification
  • Apply evidence-based approaches to the management of calcified coronary lesions

Target Audience

  • Interventional cardiologists
  • General cardiologists
  • Cardiology fellows and trainees
  • Cardiac catheterization laboratory staff
  • Cardiovascular researchers
  • Vascular medicine specialists
  • Cardiac imaging specialists
  • Healthcare professionals involved in the management of coronary artery disease
